On Tuesday, the President sent a tweet suggesting that the EU “drop all Tariffs, Barriers and Subsidies” after he imposed a response tariff on EU earlier this year.
Just a day before his meeting with European Union President Jean-Claude Juncker, Trump made clear that the ultimate goal for a free and fair society is free trade.
The European Union is coming to Washington tomorrow to negotiate a deal on Trade. I have an idea for them. Both the U.S. and the E.U. drop all Tariffs, Barriers and Subsidies! That would finally be called Free Market and Fair Trade! Hope they do it, we are ready – but they won’t!

After Trump slapped tariffs on aluminum and steel imports from several U.S allies including the EU, the EU in response retaliated by implementing tariffs on several American products that includes blue jeans, whiskey and motorcycles.
Trump then threatened to impose a whooping 20 percent tariff on all European automobile imports. The EU rightfully has warned that it would “be harmful first and foremost for the US economy” as the US citizens would be the ones to ultimately pay higher prices for the products.
Earlier this month, Trump also called the EU “a foe” during an interview for its trade policies against the United States. Trump also made a sarcastic statement saying “Tariffs are the greatest!” in response to the ones the EU has been imposing on the United States.
Tariffs are the greatest! Either a country which has treated the United States unfairly on Trade negotiates a fair deal, or it gets hit with Tariffs. It’s as simple as that – and everybody’s talking! Remember, we are the “piggy bank” that’s being robbed. All will be Great!
