For someone so active on Twitter, Donald Trump follows only forty accounts (compared to over 16 million who follow him). Among the few accounts he follows is WWE founder and CEO Vince McMahon. Nearly a decade ago, there was a story-line in the WWE where Trump and McMahon feuded in a “battle of the billionaires” – which eventually resulted in Trump walking over the WWE (in the storyline).
Trump is certainly our first president to have made a cameo in professional wrestling, and while he won’t be making any appearances at the WWE anytime soon (we hope), at least one McMahon may find home in the Trump administration.
As the Washington Examiner reported: Linda McMahon, former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, said she discussed the Small Business Administration with President-elect Trump during a meeting with him Wednesday at Trump Tower. “The meeting went great. It was really nice to be up and I was honored to be asked to come in,” McMahon told reporters as she left the Manhattan skyscraper Wednesday afternoon.
“Any time I think the president-elect of the United States asks you to come in for a conversation, you’re happy to do that,” she added. “We talked about business and entrepreneurs and creating jobs and we talked about SBA. We had a really good conversation.”
McMahon twice ran unsuccessfully for a U.S. Senate seat in Connecticut in 2010 and 2012. She donated generously to a political action committee supporting Trump during the presidential race. Although she criticized some of his comments during the Republican primary, she praised him during the general election.
Linda co-founded the WWE with her husband, and in the process, created a new segment within the entertainment industry. Other reports state that Trump is considering her to head the Department of Commerce.
Let’s get ready to rrrrrrrrumble!
